Faces of DUAL: Meet Shivam Joshi, Operations Intern

In our newest Faces of DUAL interview, we spoke with Shivam Joshi, our valued intern in the Operation team. Shivam got to know DUAL through the 'Get into Insurance' programme run by Howden and partners The King's Trust and LIIBA. 'Get Into Insurance' is a great way to learn about jobs in the sector beyond the roles that usually come to mind, and has been a "game-changer" for Shivam. Hi, my name is Shivam Joshi. I came to London in 2022 to pursue my Master's in Banking and Finance at Queen Mary University of London. Initially, I joined DUAL as a 12-week intern, which was later extended. Now, I am a proud intern at DUAL Operations.

My role primarily involves handling operations, including claims, policy booking, and some bordereaux. At the beginning, I also worked on the rebranding project.

Tell us about the ‘Get into Insurance’ scheme.

‘Get into Insurance’ was game-changing for me. It’s an excellent platform for learning and networking within the insurance industry. You meet amazing people from different departments, and honestly, it’s a fantastic initiative.

What about working at DUAL excites you?

As we know, the DUAL tagline is ‘Helping you do more’. This truly reflects the spirit of the people here, who consistently strive to achieve more. You can sense this passion when you work with such dedicated individuals.

What do you enjoy most at DUAL?

The most enjoyable aspect of my role is its fast-paced nature, offering numerous opportunities for learning and growth. Additionally, I appreciate the freedom to implement new changes to enhance process efficiency, which is highly rewarding.

What are you and your team currently working on?

My team and I are currently working on implementing a new SharePoint-based claims platform called GOAT, which stands for Greatest of All Time. This platform will significantly improve the efficiency of the claims process and be very useful for data extraction.

Describe working at DUAL in three words...

My three words are: keep doing more.

What do you like to do outside of work?

Outside of work, I enjoy crunching numbers and creating market models such as S&P 500 and FTSE 100. Besides that, I love traveling and gardening. I have visited various parts of the UK, including Brighton and Bath, as well as many places in India. In 2025, I look forward to traveling to Scotland and exploring Europe.

Finally, what are you looking forward to in 2025?

At DUAL, I am looking forward to more learning, taking on more responsibilities, and completing my CIIs.
